The University of St. Martin is Sint Maarten's very own university: a multicultural, Caribbean institution that has been educating and empowering the island's next generation of professionals for decades. Serving the community of St. Martin's island, USM is a place where ambition meets opportunity, right here at home.
But even a university needs a little sprucing up sometimes, and this SXM Doet, we are tackling three very satisfying jobs at once. Please note that these are active, physically demanding tasks that involve manual labor.
First, we are demolishing and removing old, outdated signage from the university grounds. This involves breaking concrete and hauling debris, so we are looking for volunteers comfortable with demolition tools and heavy lifting. Next, we are repainting and re-striping the parking lot to give it a clean, clear, and professional new look. This is a labor-intensive task that requires being on your feet, bending, and reaching. Finally, we are adding some greenery to make the grounds as welcoming as the education inside.
If you have a background in construction, are confident handling power tools, or simply enjoy a day of hard, physical labor, this is the project for you. We are looking for volunteers who are ready to roll up their sleeves and break a sweat to help Sint Maarten's university look as sharp as its students!
The removal of the signage will enhance the visibility of the university grounds, and the marking of the parking area will provide clear direction and minimize public confusion.
