St. Maarten Academy has been nurturing the character and intellect of Sint Maarten's youth for decades: a school committed, in its own words, to caring, learning, achieving, and excelling. With over 750 students across two campuses, it's a place where young people are challenged to grow academically, socially, and creatively.
This SXM Doet, that creative spirit is getting a very visible upgrade.
Volunteers will help transform the Art classroom at St. Maarten Academy into something students will walk into and immediately feel. The ceiling will be painted, turning what is often the most overlooked surface in a room into a canvas of its own. Murals will also be made, bringing colour, imagination, and visual energy to the space where students explore their artistic talents. And at the school's entrance, a brand new mural will greet everyone who walks through the gates, setting the tone for a school that takes creativity seriously.
Painting the classroom ceiling and murals will provide students with hands-on experience in large scale designing. They will learn how to plan and sketch concepts, scale designs to fit large surfaces, apply color theory in practice, time management and teamwork.
This isn't just decoration. Research consistently shows that students learn better and engage more deeply in environments that feel vibrant and cared for. A painted ceiling and thoughtful murals send a quiet but powerful message to every student: your creativity matters here.
Volunteers with artistic talent are especially welcome, but anyone who can hold a brush, follow a sketch, or simply keep the energy up throughout the day will be a valuable part of the team.
Come help turn four walls and a ceiling into something that inspires.
