Victim Support Services (VSS) is a non-profit organization standing beside individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, or crime on Sint Maarten, offering free, confidential counseling, legal guidance, and recovery support to help people heal and move forward on their own terms.
The aim of this initiative is to provide women who have experienced trauma and domestic violence with a safe, supportive, and empowering space where they can come together to relax, connect, and reflect on their journeys. Through shared conversation, laughter, and storytelling, the activity aims to help participants recognize their inner strength, resilience, and identity beyond their experiences of pain.
This gathering seeks to remind survivors that their past does not define their future, and that healing, growth, and empowerment are possible. It is designed to foster sisterhood, encouragement, and emotional support among women who understand one another’s experiences.

As a result of this activity, participants will feel emotionally supported, valued, and less alone in their experiences. They will leave the space with a renewed sense of strength, self-worth, and hope, recognizing themselves not only as survivors of trauma but as women of courage and resilience.
The activity is expected to encourage positive reflection on personal growth, promote healing conversations, and strengthen peer connections among participants. Women will be reminded that pain is temporary, while their strength and ability to overcome challenges are lasting.
Overall, the experience will contribute to increased confidence, emotional empowerment, and a sense of belonging within a supportive community of women who share similar journeys.
As a volunteer, you'll help create and hold that space: setting up, assisting with the event, and contributing to an atmosphere that feels safe, warm, and genuine. Come help us turn a meal into a moment that matters.
